When coaching your clients to financial security, creating Notes about your client interactions are very important for your organization and your client. These notes help provide insight into your client's needs or what was discussed during meetings.
Some financial coaches put their client notes for each Meeting when entering each client meeting. For more information about entering Meetings, view our help article: Meetings.
In addition your Notes, you can also upload any documents related to your coaching sessions. Files is where you can upload credit reports and any other financial information related to your client.
Both Notes and Files that are added to a client record, can be seen by any coaches that have access or may have future access to this client.
NOTE: It is not possible at this time to print Notes in Salesforce.
Create a Note:
- Log into your organization's Salesforce instance and open (or create a new) Contact.
- Click the Notes & Files panel link.
- In the Notes & Files panel, click the downfacing arrow icon to right of the Notes section.
- Select New to create a new Note.
- In the popup on your right corner:
- Enter a Title for your notes.
- Enter your note Content in the Note body.
- In the Related to section, you can add another Contact name here if this Note pertains to a household or couple.
- Notes that have multiple Contacts related to it can be seen on each attached Contact's record.
- Notes that have multiple Contacts related to it can be seen on each attached Contact's record.
- Click Done when your Note is complete.
View All Notes
If there is more than one (1) Note saved to a Contact record, you can view all Notes that have been added to a Contact's record.
- To view all Notes, click on either the View All button or the Notes (#) link in the Notes & Files panel.
- On the Notes list view, you can view all Notes that have been associated with this Contact.
- Click the Back button in your browser to return to the Contact record.
Edit a Note:
- Either in the Notes & Files panel or on the Notes list view, click on the title of the Note you want to edit.
- Make any changes to the title or content.
- Click Save to update your changes.
Delete a Note:
- Either in the Notes & Files panel or the Notes list view, click on the downfacing arrow to the right of the title.
- Choose Delete to delete this Note.
- Select Delete on the Delete File? box to confirm deletion of this Note.
- If this was an accidental deletion, you can click Undo on the green popup message to undo the deletion.
- Deleted Notes are sent to the Salesforce Recycle Bin for approximately fifteen (15) days before they are permanently deleted. If a Note is in the Recycle Bin, it can be restored.
- Not every Salesforce User Profile may have access to the Recycle Bin. If you are not able to access the Recycle Bin from the App Launcher, contact your Salesforce System Administrator to restore your Note.
Upload a File:
NOTE: Only PDFs and image files (JPEG, JPG, PNG, etc) can be uploaded to Salesforce at this time.
- Download and save to your device the file that you want to upload to this Contact record.
- In the Notes & Files panel, under the Files section:
- If no Files have been uploaded previously, click the Upload Files button.
- If Files have been uploaded previously, click the downfacing arrow to the right of the Files section and select Upload Files. Click the Upload Files button again on the next screen.
- The file selection dialog box will open on your device.
- Find and select the downloaded file you want to upload to this Contact record.
- Click Open to upload this file.
- The Upload Files box will load the file for you.
- If there is an error with the file you are attempting to upload, you will be shown an error message in this box.
- Click Done to complete the download process.
View All Files:
If there is more than one (1) File saved to a Contact record, you can view all Files that have been added to a Contact's record.

- To view all Files, click on either the View All button or the Files (#) link in the Notes & Files panel.
- On the Files list view, you can view all Files that have been associated with this Contact.
- Click the Back button in your browser to return to the Contact record.
- To view all Files, click on either the View All button or the Files (#) link in the Notes & Files panel.
Delete a File:
- Either in the Notes & Files panel or the Files list view, click on the downfacing arrow to the right of the title.
- Choose Delete to delete this File.
- Select Delete on the Delete File? box to confirm deletion of this Note.
