The Recommendation Engine is a feature in the Platform that recommends fintech products based on customers’ financial situation and goals to ensure that customers have access to high-quality, inclusive products. The feature equips practitioners like you and customers with the information needed to decide if a fintech product or service is right for them. This article will show you step-by-step how to use the Recommendation Engine.
How it Works

The Recommendation Engine recommends products as you enter customer information.
As soon as you begin entering information about a customer, the recommendation engine immediately starts sorting through our list of vetted fintech products and services to identify those that might be suitable for that customer based on specific data entered.
Products in the Recommendation Engine have been carefully vetted through the Seal of Inclusivity, a set of principles we’ve developed to evaluate the products and services and ensure safety, security, accessibility and inclusivity. To learn more about the Seal of Inclusivity, see this article. -
Click the Products tab at the far left in the customer record to see product recommendations.
You can see the full list of recommended products and services by navigating to the ‘Products’ tab at the far left in the customer record. There, you will see product tiles that have the name of the product, the type of product it is (see this article for more information about the different categories), and a short description. To see all products, not just those recommended, you can change the ‘Displaying’ drop-down menu. -
Review the recommendations and click View More Info to learn more about the Product.
To learn more about a product, click View More Info on the product tile. The Product Details page will open with more information about the product, how it works, and how we've evaluated it based on the Seal of Inclusivity. You can also open and print a pdf of the product details page to share with your customer. And if you scroll down, you can read reviews from other coaches of their customers’ experience. -
Click Add to move a Recommended Product to a Matched Product to discuss with your customer.
If you decide the product might be a good option to talk through with your customer, click Add Product on the product tile. This moves the product from the
recommended list to the Matched Products list below as a reminder to discuss the product with your customer. If it seems like the product is not a good fit, click X in the top right corner to remove the product from the recommended list.

Click the Product Is Being Used checkbox if your customer decides to try the Product.
Now, for the most important step--explore the fintech product with your customer! This article has some helpful suggestions and talking points.
If your customer decides they would like to try the product, click the Product is being used checkbox. If they decide the product is not right for them, you can click More Actions and add notes or delete the recommendation. -
Add product reviews to help other coaches.
As your customer uses the product, be sure to revisit the product detail page to add a rating of the product. This will help other coaches when exploring products with their customers, and the reviews and ratings determine if a product remains in the recommendation engine over time. -
Review the recommendation engine often! Different products will be recommended as you enter more information about your customer.
As you continue to enter more information about the customer's goals, action steps, and financial situation overtime, the recommendation engine will recommend additional or different products. The platform will alert you that relevant products have been identified for you to explore with your customer. We're always vetting and adding new products, so check back often!
